A gem in the Irish Links family, with breath-taking coastal views along the North Dublin coastline, this special par-66 offers a unique golfing challenge to test all levels. The course has seen major improvements over the past couple of years particularly with four magnificent new holes being introduced along the coastline. Up until 1971 all nine holes in Sutton were located on the clubhouse side of the railway line. New members and visitors shake their heads when they hear this. They are usually told a story that has become embedded in Sutton history. Legend has it that when someone shouted “fore” everyone on the course ducked! The club had spent some time negotiating with Dublin City Council for a large plot of reclaimed land, that had been a dump previously. Eventually the club received a lease and the three new holes that were developed opened in 1971. They have been developed over subsequent years to become three excellent and challenging holes. As might be expected this allowed development of 6 basically new holes on the original footprint of the club. The challenge has remained the same for golfers down through the years. Accuracy is all important - which is why Sutton continues to develop many fine golfers.

Situated in one of the most idyllic and unique settings amidst the Hill of Howth, Howth Golf Club offers spectacular views over Dublin Bay, South towards Wicklow and North over the islands of Ireland’s Eye and Lambay as far as the Cooley and Mourne Mountains. Swords Golf Club play at Swords Open Golf Course, an 18 hole parkland course on relatively flat terrain. The Broadmeadow river flows through the course and the naturally occurring water has been well used in the design of the course and the provision of strategically placed water hazards and features. Our Course Superintendent, Colm McGuinness, and his staff keep the course in pristine condition all through the year. Much has been invested in drainage over the years and so Swords Open Golf Course is very playable all year round and is constantly complimented by regulars and guests. We have a Putting/Chipping Green and practice nets for warming up before your round.
