Fermoy Golf Club traces its origins to 1893, when golf was first played on the Aerodrome in Fermoy. The club relocated in 1972 to its present site on Corrin Hill, where a mature 18‑hole, par 70 heathland course designed by John Harris measures 5,831 metres. The course is laid out on elevated ground with wide views across the Blackwater Valley and sits just outside Fermoy town, roughly a 20‑minute drive from Cork city on the Cork–Dublin road. The club describes itself as catering to men, women, juniors and senior golfers, and welcomes visitors throughout the year. Facilities at the club include a bar and restaurant, and there is an indoor Trackman simulator that is available for public bookings. Fermoy stages organised events such as open competitions and a Wednesday Open Singles series; members also use systems such as BRS and a Master Scoreboard for bookings and results. Established in 1927, Doneraile Golf Club is a 9 hole parkland course located in Doneraile, Co.Cork. Set in the fertile pastures of north Cork, Doneraile Golf Club boasts beautiful scenery with challenging golf and is regarded as one of the most stunning 9 hole parkland courses in Ireland. Located less than an hour’s drive from Cork City, Clonakilty Golf Club is an 18 hole parkland course (14 holes + 4 repeated) set in the scenic surroundings of Lisselan Estate. A Par 69, the course meanders around the Argideen River with the 3rd and 4th holes boasting spectacular views of Lisselan House. This beautifully set course is well worth the visit if in the area and offers a superb challenge for any level of golfer around one of the most picturesque courses in Ireland. Clonakilty Golf Club was recognised as being one of Munster’s finest parkland courses at the Golfers Guide to Ireland Awards 2023.

East Cork Golf Club began in 1968 when Eamon and Peg Moloney converted their dairy farm into a nine‑hole layout. The course occupies a parkland site on the outskirts of Midleton, bordered by two rivers, and was designed by Eddie Hackett with construction carried out by local contractor Ned Moran. The original nine holes were officially opened on 10 November 1969 by the late Mr. Brian Lenihan, T.D.; the course was later extended to 18 holes in 1975 and the clubhouse was enlarged in 1992. The club’s scorecard is a par‑69 layout from the blue tees with a total yardage of 5,649 yards, and multiple tee options are provided on the course scorecard. Visitors are welcomed year‑round and green fee rates are published on the club website. A staffed pro shop serves the course and is the point of contact for course status and bookings. The club’s website and on‑site staff provide the current course status and practical information for visitors. The club notes hospitality and courtesy as long‑standing aspects of its character.

It is the creation of renowned golf course designer Ron Kirby, whose credentials were honed on such Irish masterpieces as the Old Head, and Mount Juliet, as well as Gleneagles in Scotland. In Castlemartyr Mr. Kirby has developed an inland links style course that creates a visually pleasing yet testing experience. The course is designed to be challenging and pleasurable for players of any calibre. Castlemartyr Golf Club provides first class service across all aspects of the golf spectrum, from the course, to the Club House and Pro Shop.

Bandon golf course is a Par 71 parkland layout set amongst mature woodlands and natural hazards and is bounded by the original estate walls that date back to the 1700s. Holes 5, 6 and 7 are set around Castlebernard and offer a unique photo opportunity to visiting players.

Monkstown Golf Club occupies a site overlooking Cork Harbour and was established in 1908. The club has undergone phased development in recent years, including significant bunker improvements and upgrades to course and practice facilities. A dedicated Golf Academy and enhanced short-game facilities form part of the club’s investment in coaching and player development. In August 2025 Monkstown hosted the 115th Irish PGA Championship (the Brown & Brown Irish PGA Championship), the first time that event was staged at the venue following those course and practice facility upgrades. The club has also been recognised by Golfers' Guide to Ireland, being named Munster Parkland Course of the Year for 2023 and 2026, with the award presented in August 2025. The clubhouse, which was replaced with a new building in October 2006, includes modern locker rooms, a pro shop, a bar and restaurant, and a TrackMan teaching room with a simulator. The clubhouse facilities are used both by golfers and for functions; the club states it can provide special menus and cater for events such as weddings and communions.

As I drove away from Berehaven, I couldn’t help feeling that if somebody threw a million dollars at this, largely unheralded gem of a course, it might become a serious rival to California´s Pebble Beach; it really does have that much potential.

Cork Golf Club. Designed by Augusta’s genius Alister MacKenzie and recently enhanced for the modern golfer – Cork Golf Club is sculpted from historic limestone quarries and unfolds magnificently along the banks of the City’s Inner Harbour. A special place since 1888.

Glengarriff Golf Club is a nine‑hole, parkland‑style course situated in the village of Glengarriff in West Cork. The club was established in 1934 and welcomes visitors, societies and members of all abilities. The course is managed for year‑round play where conditions allow and offers practice facilities alongside use of the clubhouse and its social areas (subject to opening hours). Visitors can play a full 9‑hole round or combine to play 18 holes; Summer 2026 green fee information on the club site lists rates for 9 holes and 18 holes. Club services include hire of clubs and optional golf cart (buggy) hire, available subject to availability. The club runs events through the season and is home to the Maureen O’Hara Golf Classic festival in July. Booking is handled through the club’s tee time system and visitors are invited to check opening times and availability before travelling. The setting and the shorter, parkland layout make the course suitable for golfers seeking a relaxed outing rather than a championship test.
