Ivan Morris in his book, Ireland’s Best 9 Hole Golf Courses, published in 2015, described Foxrock Golf Club as being in the Premier League of nine-hole courses with the best greens, best set of par-four holes, best short game area, and best clubhouse. He also noted that in 1971 there were 123 nine-hole courses registered with the Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) and just 87 18-hole courses. In the intervening years, many of the nine-hole courses were expanded to 18 holes. In 2013 there were 85 nine-hole courses registered (50 built since 1971) so Foxrock Golf Club is one of only 35 courses that have survived intact since 1971. First impressions of Foxrock GC are that of a very well-presented golf course. Over the last eight years Ken Kearney the renowned Course Architect has undertaken some major course renovations and Improvements to Foxrock GC.

No other Irish course has been graced by so many distinguished players in a rich history encompasing a broad sweep of significant events. It is where Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead successfully followed its serpentine route through classsic linkland on their way to victory in the 1960 Canada Cup. And it is where another generation of Americans, including Phil Mickelson and David Duval, secured a memorable Walker Cup triumph in 1991. These events, along with 19 stagings of the European Tour's Irish Open Championship, reflect the quality of a searching examination across the link's 27 holes. Situated on the City’s doorstep and located just off the M50, Elmgreen Golf Club is a beautiful, immaculately kept 18-hole parkland course nestled in the leafy suburbs of Dublin 15. Having recently benefited from a €500,000 renovation on and off the course, Elmgreen is a rejuvenated club with a vibrant and growing membership. The Eddie Hackett designed course is located in a secluded estate with mature forestry, tree-lined fairways, and magnificent views of the Dublin mountains.

Swords Golf Club play at Swords Open Golf Course, an 18 hole parkland course on relatively flat terrain. The Broadmeadow river flows through the course and the naturally occurring water has been well used in the design of the course and the provision of strategically placed water hazards and features. Our Course Superintendent, Colm McGuinness, and his staff keep the course in pristine condition all through the year. Much has been invested in drainage over the years and so Swords Open Golf Course is very playable all year round and is constantly complimented by regulars and guests. We have a Putting/Chipping Green and practice nets for warming up before your round.
